Getting Started

Our sprints take place on well known circuits such as Goodwood and Aintree. The hill climbs include the iconic Shelsley Walsh and the scenic Loton Park.

To take part, each driver must hold, at a minimum, an RS Interclub MSUK licence, easily obtained from MSUK. Driver and car must be equipped with mandatory safety equipment.

Mandatory Safety Equipment Car

must all comply with standards set by MSUK

  • Seat belts as fitted to road-going cars, are accepted, but most SpeedMoggers have racing harnesses fitted

  • Roll over bars must comply with MSUK rules

  • Front and rear towing points usually already factory fitted

  • On/off ignition stickers
  • Towing point stickers

  • A timing strut to break a light beam at the start and finish lines to record elapsed time

Advice on roll over bars and timing struts can be obtained from dealerships such as Techniques or New Elms Morgan.

Mandatory Safety Equipment Driver

must all comply with standards set by MSUK

  • Helmet
  • Fireproof overalls

  • Gloves

  • Head and neck support (FHS)
    currently not mandatory, but advisable

For racewear suppliers, Merlin Motor Sports or Demon Tweeks will help choose what is best for you. Advice is also available from SpeedMog officers listed in the contacts section.

Sprint Taster Day

As a newcomer, you can get experience of driving your car on track at an exclusive Morgan Taster Day at Curborough Sprint circuit near Lichfield, organised by Chris Bailey of SpeedMog. Current SpeedMog drivers, including present and past Champions, are there as mentors, helmets can be hired, and your car will not need a roll over bar, harness or timing strut. We are holding the entry cost for 2026 at just £100 a car plus £80 for the second driver if you want to double drive.

The date for 2026 is Sunday 4 April. For more details, contact chris@showcasesvs.co.uk

Track days

Track days at circuits such as Castle Combe and Goodwood also give a great opportunity to gain experience of driving faster than you normally would on public roads and you can begin to learn the secrets of right lines through corners and braking points. No vehicle amendments or driver equipment are usually necessary for these non-competitive days, other than a helmet, which can be hired. However, there will be many cars out on track at the same time, unlike SpeedMog events.

Why not watch Simon and Chris Baines’ masterclasses on driving their Lightweight Roadster on circuits and hill climbs around the country.

“I was completely new to racing and had no idea what to expect, but I have been made to feel so welcome. I may not be the fastest, but I love competing, and I hope to continue doing so for many years to come!”
